國民黨：歡迎美國衛生部長訪台
針對美國衛生及公共服務部部長亞歷阿薩爾（Alex Azar）即將來訪，國民黨表示樂見美國再次派遣閣員級官員率團訪問我國。
自1979年斷交以來，總共有5位美國政府內閣官員訪問中華民國。1992年美國貿易代表希爾斯（Carla Hills）
是首位來訪的閣員。
其他4位則為：1994年美國運輸部長裴納(Federico Peña)；1998年美國能源部長李察遜（Bill Richardson）；2000年美國運輸部長史雷特（Rodney Slater）；2014年美國環保署長麥卡馨(Gina McCarthy)來訪。
國民黨強調，國民黨始終支持更緊密的雙邊關係，未來將持續與美國朝野共同努力。
最後，國民黨認為，1979年台灣關係法是維繫中華民國和美國關係最重要的基礎；國民黨期待，美國政府能進一步落實近年來所通過包括台灣旅行法在內的各項友台法案，讓雙方的高層交流在互惠互利的前提下，達到制度化與常態化。
To the U.S. Health Secretary: Welcome to
Taiwan.
In response to the incipient visit by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Alex M. Azar II, the KMT expresses its joy at seeing the United States once again dispatching cabinet members to the Republic of China.
Since the breaking of relations in 1979, a
total of five U.S. cabinet members have visited the ROC; in 1992, U.S.
Department of Commerce representative Carla Hills was the first.
Four other cabinet members have since visited:
U.S. Secretary of Transportation Federico Peña in 1994; U.S. Secretary of
Energy Bill Richardson in 1998; U.S. Secretary of Transportation Rodney Slater
in 2000; and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Gina McCarthy
in 2014.
The KMT emphasizes that we have continuously
supported closer bilateral relations with the U.S., and we hope that in the
future we will continue to collaborate closely with all levels of American
society.
Lastly, the KMT believes that the 1979 Taiwan
Relations Act remains the most important foundation for maintaining relations
between the ROC and the U.S. We also look forward to the U.S. government
further implementing various Taiwan-friendly laws such as the recently passed
Taiwan Travel Act, which under reciprocal conditions institutionalize and
normalize bilateral high-level exchanges.
