 Andrew Hsia Named New Deputy Defense Minister

The Executive Yuan yesterday announced the appointment of Andrew Hsia (夏立言), the current ROC representative to Indonesia, as the nation's new Deputy Defense Minister. In an interpellation session at the Legislative Yuan, Premier Jiang Yi-huah stated that Hsia would be responsible for matter related to arms procurement.


The Executive Yuan also appointed Tsai Yu-ling (蔡玉玲) as a Minister of State, who will double as the chairman of Mongolian and Tibetan Affairs Commission. Tsai is currently the chairwoman of Lee Tsai & Partners, a Taipei-based law firm. Shi-Shuenn Chen (陳希舜), a professor at National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, was also appointed as a Minister of State, who will double as the minister of the Public Construction Commission under the Executive Yuan.


The Executive Yuan also accepted Deputy Education Minister Chen I-hsing's (陳益興) resignation. Chen Der-hwa (陳德華), the incumbent Administrative Vice Education Minister, will replace Chen I-hsing as Deputy Education Minister.


In addition, the Presidential Office yesterday announced yesterday that it had approved Chang Kuang-yuan's (張光遠) resignation as Deputy Director of the National Security Bureau (NSB).
